Senior Accounting Analyst This position requires a high level of technical accounting skills and the ability to coordinate multiple sets of related accounting records simultaneously. Sr Accounting Analyst is responsible for the adherence to and maintenance of policies and procedures. The position is responsible for the financial reporting of for assigned portfolio of projects including projects, GPs and Corporate entities. The Senior Accounting Analyst ensures that Mid-Peninsula Housing and its affiliates have strong financial controls and accurate and efficient accounting. Senior Accounting Analyst monitors the financial performance of the company and affiliated entities and alerts appropriate parties to potential problems as soon as possible. Working Relationships The Senior Accounting Analyst reports to the Property or Corporate Controller (as assigned) and will work closely with accounting staff, property management, asset management, auditors, banking relations, investors, partners, and regulatory agencies. Essential Job Functions 1. Responsible for analyzing and interpreting financial information as well as accurately compiling and reporting this information for an assigned portfolio of properties. 2. Prepares complex account reconciliation and journal entries and performs ongoing analytical review in support of the monthly close process. Prepare monthly analysis of account variances. 3. Proactively researches and documents conclusions on accounting issues with appropriate understanding of relevant GAAP pronouncements. 4. Prepares general partner annual audit schedules and work with external auditors to complete audit and tax return. 5. Review and understand audits and footnotes prepared by external auditors. Monitors adherence to audit requirements and ensures full compliance in accordance with regulatory agencies. 6. Provide thorough review of all budgets. Work with the Management Team to assure budget quality. 7. Concisely present financial information to Mid-Pen Management or the Board of Directors, if requested. 8. Serve as a financial resource, answer questions, and provide ad-hoc financial support, as requested. 9. Develop recommendations for effective and efficient business processes and participates in cross-functional projects will be a routine part of the job. 10. Prepares monthly management reports as requested 11. Transfers cost to separate legal entity when project moves to next phase or transitions 12. Maintain project binder including documents necessary to complete audits 13. Attend meetings as needed to communicate and share information. 14. Operates with minimal supervision and needs little or no supervision when given new assignments, making decisions based on acquired skills, knowledge, and good judgment. Team Support 15. Provide support as needed to other team members to ensure the peak times between all team members are managed and supported within the team. 16. Cross train with other positions to gain the big picture and depth of roles and responsibilities of the corporate accounting team. Qualifications • BS in Business Administration or Accounting; CPA a plus • Minimum 2 years of accounting experience • Ability to work independently and work with changing priorities • Ability to understand and concisely explain financial concepts; • High degree of accurate and detailed work • Proven ability to create and promote diversified community within the accounting department • Competent skills with computerized accounting systems • Proficient with PC applications: Excel, Word, Outlook, • Effective written and oral communication skills. Solid command of English language.
