While there are many different sizes and scales when it comes to model cars scale, most often when one thinks of such models, one thinks of car kits, toy cars and manufacturer replicas of newly released vehicles. So, one has a great many choices when it comes to collecting such models. However, the most popular models by far have been miniatures.

In addition, other ground based models such as buses and trucks are included under the model car umbrella. However, railroads and military vehicles are not seen as part of the model car family. Still, as many original models were often considered toys, most buses, trucks and larger vehicles often fit more into the toy category.

Also, collecting such models is a hobby that truly can last a lifetime. As such, one has the potential to collect a variety of new models at least once, if not twice, during such a period.

For, this is the era defined as the “golden age, ” for model car collecting. As such, many models from this era, especially those in mint condition can often be quite valuable.
